The Law of Attraction: Hacking Reality
The Law of Attraction is a powerful spiritual concept that suggests that we shape our lives and experiences through the thoughts and emotions we cultivate.
This is built upon the premise that we are the Creators of our own realities.
While I already believe these concepts to be true (and have observed the phenomenon in my own reality), I have been deep diving in this sandbox more in the last year.
Thanks to spiritual teacher, psychiatrist, and physician, David R. Hawkins, we now have evidence that our thoughts and emotions emit different vibrational frequencies. Drawing from the notion of “like attracts like,” the universe responds by bringing us circumstances and experiences that match those vibrations.
This means that I am attracting or manifesting my reality every moment of every day, whether I’m conscious of it or not. [To understand more about Consciousness, click here]
The more I hold the vibration of joy or appreciation, for example, the more the universe aligns me with things to feel joyful and appreciative about. The more I hold onto the frequencies of fear, anger, helplessness, or victimhood, the more the universe aligns me with things to feel afraid, angry, helpless, or a victim of.
Sounds like a simple concept to exploit, right? Think happier thoughts and your life should be happier…
But there are a few more key details to truly understanding The Law of Attraction and becoming a master of it:
Contrast is Everything
We live in a 3-dimensional reality that is constructed of polarities:
Good—bad
Light—dark
Courage—fear
Bliss—despair
Joy—rage…
Experiencing contrast is a vital component to understanding The Law of Attraction because - by experiencing something I don’t want - it gives me more clarity around what I do want. This inspires me to “wish” or desire for something else, which creates a new clarion call of vibration.
And so the cycle goes…
Our Vibrational Escrow Account
Every time I have a wish or desire, the corresponding frequency of that desire is projected out into the universe, instantly creating that thing that I want and making it instantly available to me in what Abraham Hicks calls a “vibrational escrow account.”
But if this is true, then why is it that I don’t just - poof - magically and instantly receive everything I desire the moment I put the vibrational shout-out for it?
Resistance and The Unconscious
Because the way The Law of Attraction plays out as a practice is far more complex. Our manifested reality is influenced by not only our conscious thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, but all of our unconscious ones as well, and can even include entangled, discordant frequencies inherited from our ancestral lineage or our past lives that interfere vibrationally with receiving the things we want.
Desires around money and success, for example, tend to be weighted down by our inherent cultural conditioned beliefs around money: money doesn’t grow on trees, money makes the world go ‘round, rich people are assholes, success is hard work…
When the frequency of a desire is met with the frequency of conscious or unconscious resistance to receiving that desire, this creates an energetic holding pattern. Think of this as the animating circular icon of a mobile app that is “hung,” spinning forever, waiting to finish installing…
Until this resistance - those conflicting thoughts, feelings, and beliefs - are cleared or transcended, a person will be blocked from receiving that desire.
OTHER TIPS FOR MASTERING THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
Avoid Focusing on the Not-Having. Another form of resistance is to focus on the disappointment or longing around the desire having not manifested yet. Following the same Law of Attraction principles, the more you focus on the not-having (disappointment, longing, frustration, lack…), the more the universe brings you things to be disappointed, long, or feel frustrated about…
Is it starting to make sense?
Align with Higher Vibrational Thoughts and Frequencies. Get into the habit of cultivating "better feeling thoughts." These are thoughts that make you feel positive, happy, and aligned with what feels satisfying to you. To be clear, these “better feeling thoughts” don’t even have to be related to the desire itself. Meditation, gratitude journals, creative visualization, affirmations, getting your feet in the dirt (earthing), or simply stopping to notice the beauty around you can all support you in this.

Consistently Embody the Feeling-State of Already Having What You Want. The ultimate secret to mastering The Law of Attraction is about knowing your why. Consider for a moment something you desire. What is the feeling-state - or the emotion - you’re chasing by calling in that desire for yourself? Freedom? Joy? Ease? What do those emotions feel like in your body - what are the physical sensations of freedom, joy, and ease? For me these feel like: warm vibration, spaciousness or a feeling of floating, a sense of “brightness” coming from the inside out…
Somewhere in your DNA’s history, it has experienced and knows these feeling-states. The more consistently you can embody and maintain the vibration of the feeling-state you’re chasing, the faster the path to your desire clears.
Energetic Momentum. It’s worth saying something about energetic momentum because it also has an influence on our ability to receive. When we are repeatedly spinning on a thought or feeling - whether “positive” or “negative,” it builds energetic momentum. When we spin on thoughts of joy and ecstasy, this momentum can be a supportive force. When a person obsesses on more challenging thoughts and feelings (there really are no “negative” feelings, just dimensional polarities that are meant to be honored), this momentum can be a challenge to interrupt or shift.
Again, practicing better feeling thoughts or embodying the feeling-state you desire helps build that supportive energetic momentum.

The Law of Attraction is a powerful tool for creating the life you want, especially for those like me who aspire to radical sovereignty. In the words of Esther/Abraham Hicks: A belief is just a thought you keep thinking. So to sum it up for you, the basics to mastering The Law of Attraction are to learn to:
-Wish/desire (this happens both consciously and unconsciously)
-Identify and consistently embody the feeling-state you’re yearning to achieve through that desire
-Identify and clear out any conscious and unconscious resistance to receiving that desire
Playing within The Law of Attraction isn’t meant to be a one-time effort; it's a continuous practice of taking conscious control over the trajectory of one’s thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. By becoming aware of our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs and choosing them rather than needing the desire to show up first, we can shape our life paths and experiences intentionally instead of feeling pulled along by what feels like the randomness of life.
